As the curtain rises on NZ Music Month, Baycourt’s Whare Matarau / X Space will transform into a musical battlefield as two choirs go to war.

Following it's sell-out Tauranga Arts Festival show in 2023, Baycourt is excited to welcome back BATTLE CHORUS, an unmissable social sing-along experience that brings people together for an unforgettably entertaining night of iconic melodies and sweet harmonies.

Under the guidance of Aotearoa musical heavyweights Jason Te Mete and Rutene Spooner, audiences form two teams, learn some choruses and then battle it out with an epic medley of the Greatest Hits of All Time, from Elvis to the Beatles, Whitney Houston to Bon Jovi and more!
Absolutely zero singing experience is necessary, just bring your love of music and come together with others in collective harmony – although a little bit of friendly rivalry doesn’t hurt! There’s no need for FOMU (fear of mucking up), but we can’t guarantee you won’t feel FOMO (fear of missing out) if you don’t grab your tickets to this sweet-as singalong!
So come on down to Baycourt, enjoy a drink on us, join forces with other music lovers, learn a harmony or two and see which choir can take out the 2024 BATTLE CHORUS title!
Please note:

  • BATTLE CHORUS is designed for participants to stand (if they’re able) for the duration of the event. People with limited mobility are more than welcome to request a seat – please reach out to our ‘front of house’ staff on the night.

  • Ticket includes one complimentary beverage on arrival.
