Sexual harm prevention and response training for the Aotearoa music community.

In partnership with Toitoi Hawke’s Bay Arts & Events Centre, SoundCheck Aotearoa presents Professional Respect Training for the Hawke’s Bay music community on Monday 13 November. Toitoi Hawke’s Bay Arts & Events Centre will be offering this training in a half-day format from 12pm-4:30pm at their Hastings venue.

SoundCheck Aotearoa workshops are free and open to anyone in the music community. The content was designed with the different workplace dynamics and contexts of the music industry in mind, acknowledging that people in the music community work in a range of environments including studios, festival grounds, small-large scale offices and more.

In these workshops, you will explore the foundations of safer working environments in an interactive learning session covering:

• Strategies for preventing sexual harm and fostering a respectful work environment
• Practical tips for bystander intervention
• Guidance for receiving disclosures of sexual harm and supporting survivors
• Options and pathways for reporting sexual harm and support services available
• Definitions of sexual harassment and sexual harm within New Zealand legislation
• WorkSafe obligations and legal requirements for workplaces

Our workshops are facilitated by Sexual Harm Prevention and Response Specialists, Rachel Harrison and Mel Calvesbert (SoundCheck Aotearoa SHAPRA).

Training is delivered in a safe and inclusive environment with breaks throughout the day and kai provided.

What will I gain from taking SoundCheck Aotearoa Professional Respect Training?

• Practical insight, tools and strategies to implement in your workplace/s
• Connection with members of our music community across roles and generations
